1 hour till New Years! WOW, I hope everyone has an awesome night and stays safe!
Hey jOe, thanks! I am a little nervous about tomorrow. Odd? yes a little considering this is my 2nd New Years parade. I think it's because we go up 4th and it's gonna be day light out so it will be scary cause I will really be able to see everyone in the crowds.
Yeah, 2004. Hmm...I think it was a great and awesome year! I must admit though that from the end of November till now things have been a little stressfull (string band practices making us sound awesome & some of the college stuff) and upsetting (Cordalene & the robbery) but still somehow I have found a way to remain sane.
As far as the upcoming year-2005, I just hope that everyone remains happy and healthy. I can't believe this is the year that I graduate from high school! Yikes, where did the 4 years go? I wish Cordalene and Jim the best of luck in 2005! I hope to see you all soon!
Resolutions...hmmm...every year I make them, and lately I have actually been keeping them. SO, 2005: *make the rest of senior year awesome. *stay healthy and happy *graduate with 1st honors.
There are probably more I just can't think of them right now. More later! I am off to watch the fire works on Delaware Ave. Everyone have an awesome time tonight!
*XoXo, LaUrA the MB girl* See ya in '05

I can honestly say I'm not too sad to see the year go... I always get a bit of the blues this time of year, but what can you do. It wasn't such a bad year, but we'll have to start with the bad, so that when the good comes up we'll feel lucky enough. The bad Global- The Tsunami that has devasted Southern Asia with the death toll up to 120,000 people so far, with many more people missing. It's so devastating to watch on the news, but at least with this we can be proactive and raise money/ donate our time and services to improving the situation. National-United States Citizens who can vote made what I think to be an error in judgement that will lower the opinion of us that other countries have even further. Regional- SEPTA makes me so angry with their 62 million dollar defecit and awful service. Philadelphia has the most expensive rail costs in the country, and yet they can never be on time, courteous or clean. Now they're going to increase rail costs. I'm going to have to get a driver's liscence, and this is not a good thing for me, or anyone else on the road. Personal- My foot in mouth disease has gotten particularly bad this year. It seems that I don't even stop to think before I say something hurtful.. *I smell a resoloution brewing* and the good! Global- Saddam Hussein was finally caught in Iraq, signifying that perhaps the US will finally get the hell out of there now that they have their big fish. A man guilty of numerous war crimes (even if he was taken down on false pretenses) is in custody and perhaps shall pay for his crimes. The drama will continue in 2005. National- The Feds are cracking down on Spyware producers, upping minimum sentences for people found designing and infesting the nations computers with "WINAPPROVAL OVER THE INTERNET!!!" Anyone who designs spyware deserves to be beaten. IMHO. I have had too many computer meltdowns because of this year to have any kind of objective opinion about it. Regional- My brother seems very excited that The Eagles might actually get to the super bowl this year, even if he doubts they'll win. *They have their foot in the door, who knows what lucky windfall could occur.* Personal- Not only did I turn 18 this year ( I can finally buy all the lottery tickets that I want!!), but I got in early decision to the University of Pennsylvania which is exciting and a bit of a relief because I can stay in this awesome city for another four years while getting a really solid education Cheers guys! Make 2005 a good one! Christine

Hey how was everyones New Years Eve and Day? Hope you didn't all party too much! New Years Eve was crazy for me (in a kinda bad way) but from 5pm-11:20 pm everything was good. Let me just say that the food at Villa D' Roma (sp?) in the Italian Market is awesome! Umm...I went to see the fire works as I mentioned in the 2nd post ^ there. But I only saw them from my car stuck on Delaware Ave. in bumper-to-bumper traffic right infront of the Riverside? apartment building. Yeah let's just say it was a teary-eyed goodbye to 2004 and welcome to 2005. But my night got better when I called to wish my...friend Ryan a Happy New Year!
Onto better news... New Years Day was awesome. 65 degrees! Couldn't have asked for better weather and with a theme like "4-Shore" it's even greater! We ended up tying at 14th with another band (Trilby). That's ok though. It's not as great as the 12th place we had last year but the costumes and drill were nicer last year. We did however sound increadible in my opinion. The music improved a lot since last year!
Yeah, so that was my New Years, how did everyone elses go?

Glad it went well for you, it really couldn't have been a better day weather wise. Kim and I were down on 2 Street for a while on the afternoon of the 1st, and kept an eye out for you. Didn't see you though, figured you were reveling off somewhere else, or still playing.
Do you know what was up with all the New Orleans style brass bands this year?

Hey jOe, Yeah We finished up at City Hall at 2:30pm. Yeah you wouldn't have been able to see me down on 2 st, unfortunetly we don't have a club house there like some of the other bands. But that's ok because it is INSANE down there after the parade!
As far as the New Orleans styled brass bands this year, I have no clue.
But I am glad that you and Kim had a chance to go down to 2st on New Years day. Maybe next year depending on our place in line, I will be able to get together with some of the other young people in my band and head on over there and check out all of the fun partying that goes on after the parade!

Glad everyone seemed to have a happy New Year. I was at work on NY Eve and Day, so I'm quite envious. I did get out in time to meet my lady for a midnight smooch, and hang out with Simon on my friend's roof while the fireworks blared. He slept through the whole thing. It was quite nice until the idiot down the block fired off six shots into the sky. We went inside after that.
So, here's some of my favorite records of the new year.
Best dance/rock record: Franz Ferdinand Best 2nd record by a hyped New York band since...the Velvet Underground: Interpol-Antics Best record that reminds you of Weezer: The Comas-Conductor Best debut record: Inouk-No Danger Best record after repeated listening: Wilco-A Ghost is Born Best record made on a four track: Dr. Dog-Easybeat Best Single: the Pixies-Bam Thwock Best "garage rock" record: The Libertines Best sounding record with worst live show: The Killers (wow are they boring).
happy new year! -m

Hey Mike, it sucks that you had to work both New Years eve and day. It's good to hear though that you got a midnight smooch and watched fireworks with Simon!
