Hey All,
Here's an update:
Some of you may have noticed that we have a My Space page. I urge you to check it out, as it has 3 new songs up, and a piece of videos for yet another song. How 'bout that! Right now, this is the only place you can hear some of the new record. There is also a new bio, and other fun stuff. Please pass this on to your digital network of music lovers.
I read that some of you were talking about setting up a cordalene fan my space page, which I strongly endorse.
Also, I wanted to let everyone know of why we are taking a bit of a break right now. It's more than just finishing up stuff for the record. My wife and I are expecting a baby at the end of the month (27th is the date they gave us), so we would love you good wishes. A s result, we plan on taking it easy for the rest of the year, with perhaps only a couple of more shows. Next year we plan on hitting things really hard, and touring a lot more than ever before, and of course, releasing the full record. We are looking in to putting together a sampler of the record for sale at shows and such.
Let me know if anyone has any bright ideas on the My Space thing, or the sampler or just say hi. We miss you.
Take care, -Mike

I noticed the myspace songs yesterday and was, needless to say, thrilled. After reading the blog and hearing all of the wonderful things that were apparently going on in the studio and then actually hearing all of these songs live, I've been incredibly excited to hear the album. So a big thanks to Cordalene for making these three songs available to us as a sneak peak.
I have to admit - on first listen, I was a little skeptical - the songs didn't seem to have the energy that I hear when Cordalene plays live. So I sat and stewed for a little while, and then went back, gave them a few more listens, and slapped myself. The songs really do sound good, and they are a huge leap above anything Cordalene has done before. The band has definitely developed their skills and style. These songs are tight. All of the individual parts are more engaging and interesting than on the older songs and everything comes together and blends wonderfully.
A few quick comments on them...
The end of "Underwear" (2:20 or so on) is lovely. It changes things up a bit and sends the song out with a bang.
The end of "Counterfeit" is also pretty great. I'm loving the spacey vocals. A question though - who is singing lead...?
"Kissed Awake" is just a ton of fun.
The songs do have a certain charm and energy live that is probably very hard to imitate in the studio... "Kissed Awake" has it. "Underwear" is close. "Counterfeit" works. But I think I'm jumping ahead of myself here; without hearing the everything it's hard to say.
Sorry that's so long incoherent. I'm afraid though, that I'll have an essay for you when the album comes out, heh...
Anyway.
Congratulations to Mike and his wife! That's wonderful news, and I wish you the very best!
And everyone should join Christine's myspace group. Yes indeed.

thx for the feedback on the new songs. one of the toughest things has been figuring out what 3-4 songs to post... so, we may rotate thru the record in the next few weeks. Underwear and Kissed Awake are the really fun songs, while Counterfeit shows more of what we were reaching for with lots of layers and interesting vox and other parts. I think when you guys here stuff like All Fear Disappears and You Become So Bright you will really see why we are so excited about the record... keep the feedback and ideas flowin'!

This CD really sounds like it is gonna kick major ass! I really am liking "Underwear" right now, there is just something about this song that's awesome. I had an idea for another song you guys could put up: "Lightning Song", this has to be my fav out of all of your songs!

Hey kids, Cordalene has booked a right tasty residency for Feb. We'll be at Piano's on Wednesdays, the Khyber on Thursdays. Check out our Myspace page for details though, the website's kindof a work in process at the moment. www.myspace.com/cordalenejOe

ok,
So we have settled on a bass player. His name is Jeff Anderson, some of you may know him as the guy from Figurehead Productions, who put on the Rocktoberfest thing at the Rotunda last Rocktober. He also put on the Thrilladelphia shows, engineers at Turtle Studios, does sound at the Manhattan Roon, and is a very fun guy. oh, and ladies, he's cute, but taken.
We are very happy to have Jeff, and to have a full band again. We are really looking forward to our residencies, and our tour in March. The residencies are 21+, and I would love to find a way to have the all agers come out and see us soon. We are looking into throwing an all ages show of our own if we can swing it, so stay tuned.
